My motorized instruments are based on unique concepts of sound generation and a specific motorized / robotic form of performance and composition. The instruments translate mechanical processes—shaking, rubbing, striking, bending, rolling, etc.—into acoustic processes whose dynamics and form emerge directly from their movement profiles. This results in sound gestalten that do not stem from human virtuosity, but rather from the physical conditions of mechanics itself: choreographed machines whose visual movement and audible structure are inextricably intertwined.
