Portrait of human belarusian rights activist and musician Maria Kaleshnikova (2022)

Acrylic glass print with white shadow gap frame
70x105cm

In January 2020, I met Maria briefly in the Berlin U-Bahn, on the way from one venue of Ultraschall Festival to the next we chatted a bit. A short time later, she became one of the leading opposition figures in Belarus in the fight against dictator Lukashenka; in december 2020, when the regime kidnapped her and wanted to deport her, she ripped up her passport. She was then tried and sentenced to 11 years in prison.
